Plone at the University of Washington

When & Where

Day: Wednesday
Time: 12:20 - 13:05
Room: Dutchess 3+4
Audience: Education, Case Study.

What

Web Collective worked with the University of Washington marketing team to deploy Plone to manage and serve top-level content pages for the university at:
http://www.washington.edu/
They chose Web Collective to help launch the site, and Melody Winkle (project manager, Web Collective) discusses the issues that came up during the project.

These included project management (how to pull off an ambitious launch), usability (how Plone can work better for their team), theming with XDV (how to bring the UW team up to speed when Plone isn't their only job), and scaling (what happens when the top-level pages are on Plone).

Who

Melody Winkle

Web Collective

I work as a project manager at Web Collective, a employee-owned cooperative that specializes in deploying Plone sites and Django applications for organizations that have sustainability as a vital part of their mission. We have launched sites and provide support for organizations including the University of Washington, Yes! Magazine, ICLEI, and more.

Previously, I worked at the University of Washington as a web coordinator, and was involved in choosing Plone as a CMS, and implementing intranet sites.
